Brent Wilkes

It is with deep sorrow and sadness we share the news that Brent Wilkes, friend, classmate, teammate and our 50th Reunion Committee Chairperson passed away on September 10, 2020. During the spring of 2019, Brent had the foresight and vision to establish a Reunion Steering Committee and begin the planning process for our 50th Reunion. Thanks to Brent's leadership, we have a great Reunion Plan and more importantly many classmates have connected and reconnected through our Website. He will be missed.

Our sympathies go out to his wife Linda and daughter Erin and his extended family.  More details on Brent's passing will be posted on the Website in the very near future.

Reunion Event Update

Due to uncertainty of smaller business viability resulting from Covid-19, the Reunion Steering Committee has made the decision to change our Saturday Night (Sept 18, 2021) venue from the BreakAway in Danvers, MA to the Four Points by Sheraton in Wakefield.  This is the same venue where the Class of 69 held their 50th Reunion.  It is conveniently located near the MarketStreet shopping area in Lynnfield.  A central hotel location with easy access provides a great and safe gathering place for our 50+1 Reunion.  More details can be found on the Website under Save the Dates and Hotel Blocks.

Lynnfield Trivia

The July Trivia Results are now posted on the LHS Website.  We had 20 participants with 6 answering all questions correctly.

Great Cause

1970 classmate Priscilla Welch, a board member of the  Boxford Trails Association/Boxford Open Land Trust (BTA/BOLT) in Boxford, MA, is celebrating her 4th year as race director for BTA/BOLT.  BTA/BOLT is an all volunteer, non profit organization which maintains over 100 miles of trails in Boxford MA for the public to enjoy.  They are dedicated to conserving and protecting environmentally and aesthetically important land and habitat, including fields, forests, wetlands, and trails, preserving the nature of Boxford.  Since its inception over forty years ago, BTA/BOLT has helped to permanently protect over 1,300 acres of open space and over 100 miles of trails in the Town of Boxford.

BTA/BOLT will be hosting their 4th annual Boxford Trail Running Festival in October but because of the uncertainty of Covid-19 it will be virtual.  Priscilla is reaching out to see if anyone from our class might be interested in supporting this organization.  The tax deductible entry fee is $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.  We offer several distances which you may walk or run any time or day from October 17th to October 25th.  The first 100 who register by September 30th will receive a long sleeve race shirt and chance at a raffle prize. We also are offering prizes for a photo contest. All proceeds from this event will benefit BTA/BOLT.

For additional informational visit our website at www.btabolt.org. or contact Priscilla (race director) at pwelch@danforthcarey.com.

Donation Reminder

Our Class Donations have now reached $3,400.  Our Donation will be targeted to the LHS Theater and Arts Department.  It is very easy to make a Donation, just open the Class Donation tab on the Website and follow the instructions.  You can use a Credit Card or send a personal check.  Any amount is welcomed.

Registration & Missing Classmate Drive

As of today, we still have 32 classmates with emails who have not registered on the Website and 53 without contact information.  Given the Reunion reschedule, we would like to make one last drive to close the gap on these classmates.  Stayed tuned for more information on this subject.

Summer 2020 Photos

We hope you had an opportunity to view classmate Summer 20 Photos within the Website Photo Galleries tab.  Despite Covid-19, many classmates visited interesting places, did interesting things or spent time with family.  We encourage everyone to add photos either to their Profile or start a new Gallery within the Photo Galleries tab..

Respectfully,

The LHS 1970 50+1 Reunion Steering Committee
